In the 8th century BCE, the Kushite rulers were crowned as Kings of Egypt, commonly referred to as the "Black Pharaohs". The nubian king Piye became the first of five black pharoahs who ruled for about six decades.  Stones were were worn and adorned for protection and health, and some crystals for cosmetic purposes.
