SWIMMER HAIR TIPS
Summer is here! If your little one is starting summer camp or participating in swim classes you might one to take advantage of this blog to properly protect and take care of their hair from the heat and harmful chemicals.
"NO IRENE" TO CLORINE
Swimming pools are filled with harmful chemicals to harm your natural tresses. Follow these simple guidelines to chemical proof your hair during these warm summer months. HAPPY SWIMMING
1. RINSE YOUR HAIR.
Crazy right? Nope. Rinsing your hair before you jump into a pool will prevent harmful chemicals from the pool to be absorbed into your hair.
2. OIL YOUR HAIR
Apply an ample amount of the "three textures" hair oil into your hair you can purchase these from www.threetextures.com . If your child is under 5 years old with allergies, the "Nya Papaya Oil" will be perfect for the scalp. Children who are over 7 with no allergies any of the oils will do. Oils will seal in the moisture and prevent harmful chemicals from penetrating the hair shaft. For cornrows, twist, braids, and even plaits: Add any of the oils to a spray bottle with 1 cup of water. Shake and spray throughout the hair gently massaging into the braids.
3. CONDITION
I can't stress this enough a moisturizing conditioner is your friend. To add extra protection mix 3 tablespoons of a conditioner to a spray bottle with 1 cup of water and spray throughout the hair.
4. PROTECTIVE STYLES
Protective styles can be a gift or a curse it literally depends on the care. If the style is too tight chances are you will have breakage. If the style stay in too long chances are your in trouble during the "take down" phase. Keep it simple plaits or twist will be sufficient better yet pull it up in a bun. Please hear me oil is your best friend during any protective style. Don't ever leave your hair out because it will tangle and matte in the pool.
5. SWIM CAPS
Although swim caps will not protect your hair 100% however www.swim outlet.com has some really cool caps at a reasonable price which will keep your hair at least 90% dry.
6. CLEAN THE HAIR
Every week you should wash the hair using a clarifying shampoo. Follow with a moisturizing shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, and a hot oil treatment.
